The launch and positioning
According to a report by IT之家, Asus has made the Vivobook 16 Air available in the variant with the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme processor, already listed on Chinese e-commerce platforms. The configuration specified with 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage is priced at 12,499 yuan. The report therefore signals the market arrival of a model that combines a next-generation mobile chip with a very thin 16-inch format.
Declared technical specifications
The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme processor is described as using a 3-nanometer manufacturing process, an 18-core CPU and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7 GHz. The NPU for artificial intelligence is stated at 80 TOPS, while CPU power is presented at up to 53W. Cooling is based on two fans and two heat pipes with internal-flow channels, a solution the source links to handling workloads, gaming and content creation.
The chassis measures 13.9 mm thick and weighs about 1.2 kg; it is made of Ceraluminum, a ceramic-aluminum alloy that the source describes as resistant to fingerprints, wear and corrosion. At present only the brown colorway is listed. The screen is a 16-inch Asus Lumina OLED with 2880×1800 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 1100-nit peak brightness, a stated contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and 100% coverage of the P3 color space, with per-unit calibration at ΔE<1 and 10-bit support.
On the memory side, the model adopts a SiP package with LPDDR5x up to 48GB at 9,523 MT/s and 228 GB/s bandwidth, paired with a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The battery is 70Wh: the source claims up to 21 hours of local video playback and about 12 hours of web browsing. Fast charging reaches 50% in 30 minutes, and the USB4 ports support power via PD, so even smartphone chargers or power banks can be used.
Software, audio and connectivity
The device is classified as a Windows 11 AI+ PC and includes the 'Xiaoshuo Zhidao' assistant, with question-and-answer functions, document summarization, a personal knowledge base, image generation and recognition, translation and offline capabilities. StoryCube is also present, a media hub that classifies photos and videos by faces and scenes and enables searches by location and date.
Audio relies on six speakers with Dolby Atmos and a Smart AMP amplifier, with volume stated at up to 3.5 times that of common devices. The touchpad measures 7.1 inches and supports edge gestures. The two cameras, one 1080p and one IR, offer 3DNR noise reduction, background blur and motion tracking, with dual microphones for active noise cancellation. There is also infrared facial recognition unlock and a physical webcam privacy switch.
Connectivity includes two USB4 Type-C ports at 40 Gbps, one USB-A at 10 Gbps, HDMI 2.1 TMDS, a standard SD card reader and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The source does not indicate a precise shipping date or any configurations beyond the 24GB+1TB one.
