The announced migration
ByteDance has announced that starting November 18, 2026, accounts for the TRAE integrated development environment will be automatically converted into Doubao Feishu accounts. The news was reported by the outlet IT之家, which cites the company's own communication. TRAE is presented as an AI-native IDE tool developed by the group; last October 9, TraeWork and TraeCode were merged into a single platform, described by the company as a full-chain development environment. The November 18 deadline is therefore the first operational step in a restructuring announced in recent months.
The announcement is not merely a change to the login name: the TRAE account becomes an identity that also unlocks other products in the Doubao Feishu ecosystem, including the Doubao app, Feishu, PICO, Volcano Engine, and the Doubao input method. This is the new element compared with the past, when access was limited to the development tool.
What remains and what changes
According to the report, usage data is retained in full: code, projects, and history remain available. Subscription benefits are also maintained—namely member status, associated entitlements, and the various accumulated points. On the profile side, those who have already set an avatar and nickname on Doubao will see their TRAE data updated with those from their Doubao account; those without a Doubao Feishu account, or who have one with default data, will instead keep their current TRAE avatar and nickname.
The company then distinguishes two login scenarios, and this is where the most relevant practical consequences emerge. If the phone number used for TRAE matches the one for Doubao, access remains unchanged and the links to Douyin and Apple follow the Doubao account settings, which can be modified at any time from account management. If, however, the numbers do not match, or no Doubao Feishu account yet exists, a new account is created with the TRAE number: any pre-existing Doubao account remains active, with two profiles coexisting, and the links to Douyin and Apple must be redone.
Open questions for users
To avoid duplication, the indicated procedure is to change the number associated with TRAE from the account management section, aligning it with the Doubao number. It remains to be seen how the transition phase will be handled in practice for those with multiple accounts and what support tools will be made available: the available material does not specify this. It is also not clarified whether the conversion will take place at a single point in time or in stages.
The move is part of a broader reorganization of the group's AI-based productivity activities, to which the source refers by citing previous reports on the integration of TRAE and Coze into Doubao and on a possible unified brand for work. However, these are elements reported as rumors, not confirmed in the statement on the account migration.
