The new company and the shareholdings
The board of directors of Saic Motor has approved the establishment of a joint venture with Yandian Technology and Momenta, according to IT之家, citing an announcement by the automaker itself. The new company, whose name has yet to be defined, will have registered capital of 300 million yuan. The shareholding breakdown will see Momenta as majority shareholder with 153 million yuan, equal to 51%; Saic with 75 million yuan, equal to 25%; and Yandian with 72 million yuan, equal to 24%.
The rationale cited by Saic is to strengthen its research and development capacity in high-level autonomous driving and support the competitiveness of its vehicles in global markets. The material does not specify start times, location or detailed operational scope of the new entity.
Who are the three partners
Yandian Technology was founded on June 27, 2022, and has registered capital of 100 million yuan. Its legal representative is Zang Chungao; its sole shareholder is Yanfeng Automotive Trim Systems, and effective control rests with the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. The company is part of the Saic group.
Yandian positions itself as a platform for Yanfeng's proprietary electronics, with a focus on the smart cockpit and related domain controllers. It is headquartered in Shanghai, with research centers in Shanghai and Nanjing and a smart manufacturing plant in Xuzhou.
Momenta, founded in 2016, has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since July 2026 under the ticker 6880.HK. The IPO took place at HK$295.6 per share, with a market capitalization of more than HK$70 billion on its first trading day. Its chief executive officer is Cao Xudong. The company describes itself as a provider of foundational physical AI models, with a strategy based on a data loop and two business lines: series-production autonomous driving and fully driverless driving. In April 2026, it began production of the R7 model, intended for passenger vehicles, logistics vehicles and autonomous trucks, robotaxis and robots.
A collaboration already under way
The relationship between Saic and Momenta is not new. According to the material, Saic is Momenta's first institutional shareholder, and Momenta itself holds a stake in IM Motors, creating a web of cross-shareholdings. Since the birth of the IM brand, Momenta has supplied driver-assistance solutions for all models, jointly developing the IM AD system.
The new joint venture therefore extends an established relationship into a dedicated corporate vehicle. However, based solely on the available information, it remains unclear whether the project will focus on a common technology platform, on the integration of smart cockpit and autonomous driving, or on both. In the announcement cited by the source, Saic did not disclose timing, further investments or quantitative targets.
